An architectural marvel, the Baha’i temple in New Delhi is known as the Lotus Temple because of its shape. The temple sits on a 27 acres land with well maintained gardens. Constructed in white marble, the peak rises to more than a hundred feet and the diameter of main building is more than 210 feet (70 meters). There are 27 lotus petals and 9 pools that cool the building in the scorching heat of New Delhi. The cavernous main chamber can seat 1300 visitors at a time. I reached there during a heavy downpour.
